ABOUT

Claudia Pearson

Originally from London, Claudia moved to NYC in the midst of the mid-90s creative explosion happening in downtown NYC.

Claudia did a variety of jobs as she was getting her bearings, including a stint at a PR firm as well as a time assisting rising star stylists. All the while, she remained laser-focused on her illustration career.

As Claudia began to establish herself as an artist and solidify her style, she started being commissioned by reputable editorial clients like The New Yorker, Travel and Leisure, and The New York Times, and began to do projects for companies outside of the magazine world, including Chronicle Books, Publix, and West Elm.

In 2008, Claudia's first children's book, entitled Tribal Alphabet, was published, and it won the Silver Moonbeam Award as well as the Stuart Brent Award for its contribution to promoting multicultural awareness in children's literature.

In 2010, Claudia launched her eponymous range of products for the home, inspired by her love for community, passion for travel, and deep respect for the environment.

Recently, Claudia has been finding ways to incorporate her interests in experiencing nature through hiking and wilderness retreats into some new, exciting offshoots from her CP line, including the newly launched Ebb and Flow line.

She continues to paint and experiment in new mediums, so watch this space, and is excited to build her Ink, Water, Sound project in collaboration with her partner, Malik Williams.

Malik Williams

Malik began his professional creative journey in NYC in the early 90’s working in fashion boutiques in Soho while simultaneously DJing in clubs and lounges throughout the city and creating soundtracks for NY Fashion Week shows.

In the early 2000s, Malik began to work with young adults in the city, helping them develop personal and professional skills required for them to be successful in the 21st-century business landscape. During this chapter in Malik’s life, he was able to develop and fine-tune his ability to lead groups and help individuals and groups envision common and personal goals through reflective, interactive activities.

Ink, Water, Sound has given Malik a unique opportunity to combine his music and sound experience with his individual and group leadership work to create spaces for communities to reconnect with themselves creatively and energetically.
